What is your role at BoatyardX and what does a typical day look like for you?
As the Managing Director of BoatyardX, my role is multifaceted and incredibly rewarding. I oversee the operations and strategic direction of our vibrant team, which has grown from our initial base in Cluj-Napoca to now include talented individuals in Iasi and Brasov. A typical day for me involves a blend of team management, client interactions, and strategic planning.
Additionally, I dedicate time to one-on-one meetings with our engineers, supporting their professional growth and nurturing a collaborative and innovative work environment. Strategic sessions are also a key part of my day, where I align our goals with BoatyardX’s overall vision and explore new business opportunities.
What challenges have you faced in your role and how have you overcome them?
One of the main challenges I’ve faced is managing our rapid expansion while maintaining the high standards of quality and performance BoatyardX is known for. Growing from our roots in Cluj-Napoca to establishing strong teams in Iasi and Brasov has been exciting but also demanding. To overcome this, we’ve implemented a thorough hiring process, ensuring we bring on board not just skilled engineers but those who truly fit our culture and values.
Having grown from venture building background during Covid, we’ve always been very nimble as a team. We don’t take it for granted through and purposefully foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptability within our team. We support each person’s individual growth, play an active role in the locel development communities to keep our skills sharp and our solutions innovative, ensuring we stay ahead of industry trends and anticipate our clients’ needs.
What have been your proudest achievements while working at BoatyardX?
One of my proudest achievements has been steering BoatyardX through changing market conditions, ensuring we remain a trusted partner for both startups and enterprises. As customer needs evolved – startups facing tighter funding constraints and enterprises prioritising cost efficiency – we adapted, refining our approach to deliver maximum value while maintaining our high standards of quality and innovation.
I’m also incredibly proud of the strong, collaborative culture we’ve built. Our ability to retain long-standing customers and maintain exceptionally low employee turnover reflects not just stability but deep trust – both within our team and with our clients. These accomplishments reinforce BoatyardX’s reputation as a reliable and innovative software partner, and it’s rewarding to see how we’ve grown alongside our customers, adapting and evolving together.
